Tournament will be held in Overland Park, Kansas at the Blue Valley Northwest High School,
13260 Switzer, Overland Park, Kansas 66213. This Event is Presented by: Master Hwi Jong

April 27, 2002 (Saturday) - The 2002 Universal Martial Arts Institute Goodwill Games (Tae
Kwon Do Championships), held at the Wallkill Valley Regional High School, 10 Grumm Road,
Hamburg, New Jersey 07419. Trophies will be awarded in all divisions for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
place. Entry fee is $45.00 and each additional event is $5.00. In addition to Poomse and
Gyoroogi Divisions (Forms and Fighting), Kyukpa (Breaking) will be a division also. You will
need to bring your own breaking materials. For equipment, the competitor is responsible for
providing their own equipment. WTF approved equipment and rules will be honored. For Eligibility,
All competitors must be students of an established school or club whose instructor holds the rank
of at least 1st Degree Black Belt under a nationally recognized association. For more information

Just a note: Grandmaster Ik-Hwan Kim is Master Ko's Hapkido Instructor. At this event, Master
Ko will be performing some very spectacular breaking (kyukpa) techniques with concrete. Just prior to
the breaking, Master Ko will demonstrate the Dan-Jon Ho-Hup Sool (Ki Power Cultivation and Breathing).
Then he will begin his Kyukpa Sool utilizing his most famous self-suspending Soo Do break through 3
patio blocks (6" thick). No spacers are ever utilized by Master Ko. Also, a concrete break with his
head. A suspended knife hand break straight in from his centerline breaking concrete. Dropping 3 pine
boards from his own grip and breaking them suspended in air with Ju Mok Chigi Sool. Master Ko will also
perform a very old "traditional" Korean "Chong Bong Hyung" 6-foot staff form set from Korean So Rim
Temple. And finally, Master Ko will perform the Sipjin Hyung (Empty-hand Kukkiwon Form Set). After this,
Master Ko will help and assist Grandmaster Kim in any way that he can for a most successful tournament
at these Goodwill Games. Master Dr. Ko has a very special award to present to Grandmaster Ik-Hwan Kim.

White through 1st Gup Red Belts. All exam fees and application forms must be in to the office by Monday,

May 25, 2002 (Saturday) - Ko Wu Tao Kwoon Wing Chun Level Examination - 9 a.m. - For the first 3 levels of
Yellow, Blue, and Violet Sash. Examination fees must be paid in advance.

June 1, 2002 (Saturday) - Moo Duk Kwan Rank Examination - 8 a.m. - For all Gup Levels and Cho DAN Black
Belt. Exam fees and application forms can be turned in the morning of the examination. This is a Closed-Door
Exam. All traditional techniques are examined and will include Ki Cho 1-4 Hyung, Pyong An 1-5 Hyung, Bassai
Dae, and Chul Ki (Naihanchi Cho DAN). Moo Gi Sool (Traditional Weapons) will be examined. Ho Shin Sool will be
examined. Kyuk Pa Sool will also be examined. Hangul (Korean Language) will be utilized throughout the exam

July 27, 2002 (Saturday) - Ko Mu Do Kwan WTF Tae Kwon Do Rank Examination - 8 a.m. - For all 12 Gup Levels,
White through 1st Gup Red Belts. This examination will also include all candidates for Black Belt (Cho-DAN).
All exam fees and application forms must be in to the office by Monday, July 22, 2002.

August 3, 2002 (Saturday) - Grandmaster Won's Summer OPEN Tae Kwon Do Championship Tournament in Oklahoma City.
In addition to the Gyoroogi (sparring divisions) and Poomse or Hyung (form divisions), there are many other
divisions being offered such as: Moogisul (weapons), Kyukpa (breaking), Hosinsul (self-defense), Creative and
Musical forms, Team Competition (forms), Martial Arts Aerobics, and others. More information will follow.
Check back to this page for additional info. The evening before the tournament (Friday) from 6 to 10 p.m.,
Grandmaster Won (holding the rare 1st Class Referee License from WTF) will conduct another Seminar on the
WTF Rules change at his very spacious and impressive Gym south of OKC. You can become a CERTIFIED Referee

form. This event resembles the Hanmadang festivals in South Korea. As a special note to all Ko Mu Do Kwan
students that plan to compete at this Oklahoma tournament, your Registration forms and fees must be in to

Master Ko and his students will be competing in the Team Demonstration Division.

September 28, 2002 (Saturday) - NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - Shin's Southern U.S.A. Open Tae Kwon Do Championships.
There will be divisions for everyone. Young children, teenagers, seniors, men, and women. Beautiful trophies
will be awarded, as always, in each division (not medals). These many divisions will ensure evenly matched
levels of competition and a greater opportunity for successful participation. The day's events will be
highlighted by grand championships in both forms and sparring. Exciting martial arts demonstrations will be
performed. GENERAL INFORMATION: Place - Bellevue Middle School (Hwy 70S). Registration - 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Entry Fee - $50.00 (includes 1 Form and 1 Sparring). Spectator Fee: $5.00 (Children under 6 FREE). Awards -
Beautiful awards in all divisions including 2 Six Foot Grand Championship Trophies and Three Foot Trophies
awarded in all other divisions for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Eligibility - All competitors must be students in
well-established schools. Equipment - Head gear and chest protectors are mandatory for sparring. Protective
cup, mouth guard, safety punch and kick are recommended. Traditional martial arts uniforms are mandatory.

November 9, 2002 (Saturday) - WICHITA, KANSAS - Moo Duk Kwan Memorial Anniversary Observance and Traditional
Demonstrations. This event is in commemoration of the Great Grandmaster and Founder Hwang Kee and his
birthday. His birthday is also the founding date of the Moo Duk Kwan and will be the 57th Anniversary. True
and factual history will be revealed and discussed. The 5 traditional Ki Cho (basic) form sets will be
demonstrated. The 5 traditional Pyong-An form sets will be demonstrated. The Chil Sung form set will be
performed. The Bassai So (lesser) and Bassai Dae (greater) form set will be performed. The three (3)
Naihanchi (Chul-Ki) form sets will be performed. The Sip Soo (Bear) form set will be demonstrated. Moo Gi
Sul (Weapons) of various types will be demonstrated. Ho Shin Sul (Self-Defense) will be displayed. Kyuk Pa
Sool (Breaking techniques) will be performed. Dae Ryun (Sparring) will also be displayed. Doors open at

December 7, 2002 - (Saturday) - 2002 U.S. Central Taekwondo Association Interstate Championship
presented by the U.S. Central Taekwondo Association. Tournament Director: Grandmaster In Hui Won.
Location: U.S. Central Taekwondo Training Center at 10801 S. Sunnylane, south of Oklahoma City.
Pre-Registration: must be received by Dec. 4, 2002. Entry Fee: $30.00 for any two events.
$15.00 for any additional event. Late Fee: $10.00 at the door. Time Schedule: Registration
at 11:00 a.m. and Competition begins at 12:00 Noon. General Admission: 2 Cans or More of Food for

February 8, 2003 - (Saturday) - 17th Annual Oklahoma Invitational Taekwondo Championships. This is
the largest tournament in the State of Oklahoma. Over 500 competitors are expected to compete at this most
prestigous event. The U.S. Central Taekwondo Association and the U.S. Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan Association is
sponsoring this hugh event. This tournament will be held at the John Smith Field House in Del City, Oklahoma.
The main events will be Kyoroogi (Sparring) Divisions and Poomse (Forms) Divisions. Rules: World Taekwondo
Federation. Other Special Events will include: Kyukpa (Breaking), Moogisool (Weapons), Hosinsul
(Self-Defense), IL/Ee/Sam-Soo-Sik (One/two/three-Step Sparring), Creative Forms, and Musical Forms. Also,
Special Divisions for Handicap Students will be included at year's event. Awards: Very Large Trophies for

March 29, 2003 (Saturday) - Tae Kwon Do Examination for both Moo Duk Kwan and Han Moo Kwan curriculums.
Exam starts at 1 p.m. until ??? The doors will be open at 12 Noon so that exam candidates can warmup
and prepare themselves in advance. Fees must be paid in advance no later than March 24th for Moo Duk
Kwan students and March 25th for Han Moo Kwan students, or the Monday and Tuesday before the exam. Be
sure that ALL tuitions are paid up to date. Mr. Dennis Q. Mai performs to demonstrate his skills and
to receive his DAN Certificate from The Korea Tae Kwon Do Moo Duk Hae (Moo Duk Kwan Society). Just prior
to this, Mr. Mai will perform a traditional tea ceremony to his Master: Dr. Gar Won Ko.
