U.S. Central Taekwondo Association

The U.S. Central Taekwondo Association or USCTA was founded in 1994 by Grandmaster In Hui Won, 9th DAN Black Belt, and President of this rapidly growing martial arts organization. Grandmaster Won came to the United States from Korea in 1980 and became a U.S. citizen in 1988. Since 1980, and prior to the founding of USCTA, Grandmaster Won operated several successful Taekwondo schools under the name of Grandmaster Won's Taekwondo in and around Oklahoma City and the throughout the State of Oklahoma. These schools still operate successfully today under that same name, Grandmaster Won's Taekwondo. And now under the USCTA, schools in the State of Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas have been added to this very successful and very well run organization. The USCTA is growing at an alarming rate.

Master Dr. Gar Won Ko, 6th DAN Black Belt, is Vice-President of the USCTA and is also in charge of all USCTA and Han Moo Kwan activities in the State of Kansas. The Kansas Headquarters for the USCTA and the U.S. Han Moo Kwan Association is the Ko Mu Do Kwan at 2819 E. Central in Wichita.

The USCTA provides all services in conjunction with owning and operating small, medium, or large schools or dojangs throughout the United States. These services include promotions for all Gup levels from White to Black Belt (USCTA Gup Certificates), DAN Certifications for all Black Belts (USCTA Black Belt DAN Certificates), Instructor's Certification, DAN Certifications directly from the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters), and Black Belt DAN; Certifications directly from the Han Moo Kwan headquarters in Seoul, Korea.

The USCTA is housed in a beautifully spacious 10,000 square foot building (one of the largest schools in the State of Oklahoma) recently built by Grandmaster Won on 25 acres of land just south of Oklahoma City. This selected site will also contain an extensive outdoor training facility for endurance training, survival training, traditional Korean regimental training, obstacle course training patterned by the military style of training.

On the inside of this most spacious and well-equipped training gymnasium, Grandmaster Won frequently conducts special technique seminars, taekwondo competition seminars, referee certification seminars, and school operation/business seminars. In fact, Grandmaster Won teaches good business practices and trains many current small school owners how to run a most efficient and successful taekwondo school.

Grandmaster Won and Master Dr. Ko understand that it is very important for each and every taekwondo school owner and operator out there to have a very good, helpful and honest support system behind them for that success in business. Master Dr. Ko also offers his support to school owners in Kansas by providing high-level demonstrations of traditional martial arts to help the owner/instructor promote their school in their area.

At the Ko Mu Do Kwan, USCTA Kansas Headquarters, Grandmaster Won frequently conducts Referee Seminars, Cutting-Edge Olympic Taekwondo Competition Seminars with visiting Masters from Yong-In University in Korea, Business Seminars, Advanced Black Belt and Instructor's Seminars, and Promotional Examinations.

During these times, Master Dr. Ko and his students perform Kyukpa (Breaking) and Gyoroogi (Fighting) demonstrations to help promote the art of Tae Kwon Do and the USCTA.

The USCTA belongs to the Korea Taekwondo Association and the Han Moo Kwan, which is one of the oldest and original kwans in Korea (founded in August 1953). The founder and still first Generation President of the Han Moo Kwan is the Great Grandmaster Kyo Yoon Lee and is Grandmaster Won's master in Korea. Han Moo Kwan

In addition to Grandmaster Won holding the 9th DAN Black Belt, he has been elected as President of the USTU in the State of Oklahoma for seven (7) years.

Grandmaster Won holds the highest rank in the world as a First Class International Referee and attended the 2nd International Referee Seminar in Seoul, Korea in 1975 during the 2nd World Taekwondo Championships hosted by the Kukkiwon. He was Certified as Master Instructor in Korea in 1974 and was also Certified as a Referee in 1974 by the Korea Taekwondo Association.

Since his time in the United States, Grandmaster Won has trained close to 1,000 taekwondoists to Black Belt.

The reader must understand that both on the Internet (virtual reality) and in the Real World, many martial arts organizations don't even have a school or gymnasium, they remain virtual (in the owners mind or in their computer) or they exist only in their living rooms. Many people who read their ads and hear their claims don't even know that they do not have an actual school established.

Both Grandmaster Won (10,000 square foot gym) and Master Dr. Ko (6,000 square foot gym) have schools and gyms. Also, these spacious gym environments are NOT "Sterile", which means, at one look, you see, feel and know that these gyms are very well equipped with serious training apparatus for the most serious martial arts practitioner. This concept and commitment that Grandmaster Won and Master Dr. Ko both share and have is unique in this world of "fast-dollar" operated schools. Quality is the 'Q' word with them.
